Time goes by so quickly!
Dear Godparents, Sponsors, and Friends,
I hope this message finds you well. If you’re anything like me, you’re probably wondering where the time has gone—it seems to fly by!
Recently, I had the joy of visiting Jeenat (you can see her in the photo). She was the very first child I welcomed into our program back in 2008. Back then, she was just a Precious little thing and now she stands before me as a beautiful young woman with a kind and noble heart.
All the children we supported during those early days have grown into independent adults. When they first arrived, their lives seemed shattered. But with just a single opportunity, they embraced it fully and worked hard to build a dignified future. That is the mission of Childsrights, and seeing them succeed fills our hearts with joy and reminds us that all our efforts have truly been worthwhile.
Our younger children are still attending school, but summer vacation is just around the corner. Due to the extreme heat here in Khajuraho—temperatures can reach up to 48°C (118°F)—we’ll soon be escaping to the mountains.
We’re fortunate to have a beautiful retreat waiting for us in Rishikesh, where a meditation center kindly welcomes us. Not only do they offer us a peaceful place to stay, but they also serve us delicious meals. We’ve stayed there twice before, and it has become a beloved tradition for us. The owners enjoy having our children around—they bring so much energy and joy to the place.
One touching connection has blossomed there: the elderly mother of the center’s owner and our sweet Anjana. Anjana has a special love for elderly people and often accompanies the old lady on walks or visits her room to hear stories from her youth. It’s beautiful to witness such bonds form.
As we prepare for our trip, I’ll be sure to send more updates soon from our time in the mountains. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for being part of this journey with us.
Namaste,
Christiane
