HAPPY DIWALI 2021
Namaste to all of you!
HAPPY DIWALI!
At the beginning of this month we celebrated the Diwali Festival, literally it means “row of lights” that’s why they call it the festival of lights. It’s a Hindu celebration which lasts for 5 days, and takes place at the beginning of a new year. This is a time when the good overcomes the bad, the light succeeds over the dark. All the houses are carefully cleaned and painted in new colours. Candles are lit in the windows of the houses and new clothes are purchased. Our children will be getting a new set of clothes that they pick themselves, we prepare a special meal and give them sweets they love (I think they are too sweet for my taste, pure sugar, but once a year it’s all right nobody gets hurt)
The first night of Diwali is accompanied by fireworks. It’s so beautiful.
The children enjoy it a lot!
It´s a shame I can’t be there in order to celebrate the festival together with them. I still have to be here in Spain for another couple of months but it seems like that little by little the situation is getting better. Let’s see when I will be able to pack my suitcase in order to travel to India.
Many greetings,
Christiane
