HAPPY HOLI 2018
Hello dear Childsrights followers,
Time is flying by again it´s already March! This is the month when Holi takes place here in India which is the celebration of colours. Last year I already explained it´s significance in the newsletter. Today I will repeat for the ones who don´t remember: Every March during the last full moon India becomes dyed in brilliant colors in order to welcome springtime. For two days the big social gap seems to disappear when everyone throws brilliant colored powder and dyed water towards one another as a symbol of happiness, welcoming spring, and to that good may overcome evil.
The children enjoy this festival very much, but our little Ajay the most. He took off his clothes, filled up his plastic pistol with colored water and got everybody else wet. Afterwards he took the water and threw it all over himself laughing very hard.
After the festival everybody has to assist to another festival which is called “washing all the clothes by hand” (we don´t own a washing machine) trying to get rid of all the color stains. Its not an easy task. Thank god, there is a man who comes bye once a week in order to help us wash all the clothes and uniforms. I´m really happy for this solution. With so many children there is a lot of dirty clothes to wash and we are giving work to a father who really needs the extra money.
See you later
Nane
