¡HAPPY DIWALI 2017!
Namaste dear Childsrights followers,
We wish you “Happy Diwali”!
For the Hindus Diwali “festival of lights” is the most important time of the year, which can be compared to the Christmas celebration for Christians.
The festival is considered a time to become a better person and represents new beginnings.
It´s been said that Lord Rama and his wife Sita came back to their kingdom in the north of India after he defeated the demon Ravanna in the year XV b.D. In the legend the people of the kingdom put lamps in windows and on roof tops so that Rama could find his way home easier. That’s why there are so many lights during this time at night.
It is so beautiful to see all of the finely decorated houses lit with candles and lights until very late at night, It´s like in a fairy tale.
People buy new clothes; our kids usually get a new pair of jeans and shirts or a nice new dress. We let them choose themselves and they wear them for first time for the special ocation. It makes them feel very special and happy. On this night a delicious meal and sweet desserts are served.
Also we make offerings, like in the picture you can see our little Shivam who prepared a precious offering, he sang mantras and his prayers were accompanied by the following words: “Om Lokah Samastah Sukhino Bhavantu” which means “May all beings of the whole world be happy”
My son Shivam and I have the same wishes!
With these beautiful blessings, we say goodbye!
Shivam & Nane
