Wishing to go back to a normal life
Namaste to all of you,
Hopefully you are all healthy, which is always so important!
Thankfully our children are all healthy however they are getting really tired of this never-ending quarantine. They have been confined since March and the situation in India doesn’t seem to be getting better any time soon. Its hard for me to believe that I have been here since February and I don’t know when I will be able to return since all international flights are cancelled.
The children never complain, they are very brave but I notice that they are tired. They miss leaving the house, seeing their friends and going to school Nobody knows when they will reopen that’s why we have private teachers coming to our house in order to continue class. Also a teacher is coming on the weekends to teach yoga and music.
Right now the government is planning to have obligatory online classes. I think that is a crazy idea! Fist of all we don’t have computers at home since many studies advise against screens at an early age so I have been trying to avoid it. It seems like now that will be the only option, which doesn´t make me very happy. Also the government is not aware of the fact that many families don’t own a computer or even a mobile phone. Many don’t even have a plate full of rice so how would they be able to buy any of those? This move will only show once again the big inequality in India. I remember a case where a family with almost no resources to survive asked for a loan at a bank in order be able to buy a mobile phone for their son to be able to continue with class. It is surreal!
The pandemic is getting worse, every 24 hours there are 95.000 new infected people and the prognostics say that very soon 1 of every 5 persons will be infected. Nobody can imagine the magnitude of the disaster. I prefer not to write details about the day to day life because I don’t want to upset you too much. India is out of control and nobody sees a light at the end of the tunnel. At the same time the businesses have reopened again and next will be public transportation which could mean that many more people will get infected. It’s all so unreasonable, lets see when and how we will end up with all of this.
I have left you on the bottom a little video of the music lesson with the children. I wish you lots of health and blessings. I hope you are much better in your respective countries and that the next blog will contain happier news.
Namaste,
Christiane
