Hello beloved Childsrights Friends and collaborators,

We are still in the middle of the summer and I am sure some of you are enjoying the beach.

One of our angels big dreams was to one day be able to see the sea.

Not long ago Anjana and I travelled to the east of India, to a village named Gujarat in order to visit a good friend. One afternoon I shared the dream of the children with him and his answer was: “Well if it’s only this, let’s bring the girl to the beach tomorrow then”.

Said and done!

I didn´t realize that the beach was this close to his village. It only took us an hour and a half to get there. We went to a village called Diu where the Arabian Sea is. I took the girl by the hand and went to the beach with her. When she saw the sandy beach and big see, with its dancing waves her eyes went big and she was very impressed by what she saw. We entered the water swimming and jumping the waves. All of the sudden she screams of the top of her lungs: HAPPYYYY!” When I saw her happy reaction, I wished that all the children would be able to come to the sea.

The children are back to school this month. After two months of vacation, they were happy to go back and start a new school year. They love to put on their uniform. They dreamed of this when they were living in the streets or in shacks. Once I took the children, dressed up for school, on a bus to school in the center. We passed by the place or better the gap where little Jyoti had lived before. All of the sudden she sees an old friend who is still living there. From the window, she starts waving all excited but her friend didn´t react so she is rather puzzled and sad why she wouldn´t greet her back. After a while, she says: Ahhh, of course now I understand! Since I´m so pretty and clean she didn´t recognize me!”
