May the light overcome the darkness
Hello everyone,
This month, unfortunately, I don’t have good news. You must all be aware of the devastating flood that hit Valencia and the flooding in other parts of Spain. Valencia is one of my homes (alongside India), and we’re all deeply affected here. In front of the children, we try to hide our tears; some of my colleagues manage to do so, but I can’t, and the children seem puzzled by my sadness. I explained to the older ones what had happened, even showing them some images of the disaster. They grew very serious, went to their rooms, and came back with their small savings, asking me to please send them to the families in need in Valencia. I was moved and started crying again, but this time out of joy, seeing their kindness.
Life here goes on with our usual routine. The children are studying hard—some enjoy it, while others find the books boring and would rather play, which is pretty normal for kids. We’re continuing with music and dance lessons, as well as the work on our new home. We hope to move in about four months, which we’re all very excited about.
Oh, and I almost forgot to mention that at the beginning of this month, we celebrated the “Diwali Festival,” the festival of lights. During the festival, we wish for light to always overcome darkness, especially now with the difficult times Valencia is facing. We place candles around the house, in every room, and draw mandalas. In the photo, you can see part of the beautiful mandala Rajani created.
We send you our warmest regards, and lots of hope and love to the people of Valencia. Namaste,
Children & Christiane
