Holi Festival, another year
Namaste everyone,
I am about to arrive in India, and I hope all the children are doing well. They have been taking exams, and we are now waiting for the results. I believe they have done well because they have been very focused on their studies. Something really made me laugh: Krishna, who is a very handsome boy, had grown his hair long, which he loved and which suited him very well. But he cut it, telling me, “I love long hair, but it’s a lot of work to wash it and apply masks and oils, and now I don’t have time for that—I have a lot of exams.” So he cut it very, very short. I was amazed by how responsible he is.
Outside of school, they also take music lessons with a private teacher who comes to the house, and they also have exams there in June. They really enjoy music, and it helps them relax from the very strict studies at school.
In India, the “Holi Festival,” the festival of colors, was celebrated. It is a Hindu festival celebrated in India and Nepal. Its meaning is to celebrate the arrival of spring and also the triumph of good over evil. People throw colored powders at each other. As you can imagine, especially the children have a great time. Personally, I don’t like this festival because your clothes get stained with so many colors that they don’t come out even after washing. They also put it on your face and hair, and this “colorful dye” doesn’t suit me at all. Solution: I usually don’t leave my room that day. Perfect, because I can take advantage of a whole day to rest.
Best regards,
Christiane
